CORDON bleu cook,
Hilary Finney, set up her
venture to teach people better
cooking skills in 2006 to
address what she thought was
snobbery in cooking, with
celebrity chefs making
complicated dishes with
expensive ingredients.
Hilary, who developed her love
of cooking from her mother,
Beris, set up in Harmony House,
the 17th and 18th century home
in The Green, Stillingfleet,
which she also converted into a
bed and breakfast.
Word spread and now about 1,000
people a year take advantage of
Hilary’s cooking courses, with a
fifth of them booking to stay in
the B&B too.
Hilary, who has previously
managed corporate events, run
staff restaurants and run her
own outside catering business,
is now hoping her achievements
at Harmony House Cookery School
will be recognised at The Press
Business Awards 2012, in which
she has entered Small Business
Of The Year and Tourism and
Hospitality Business Of The
Year.
